About the Journal
Anagoge: Journal of Systematic and Philosophical Theology is an advanced peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Graduate Programmes (Master’s and Doctoral) in Theology at Sekolah Tinggi Teologi (STT) REAL Batam, under the coordination of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of STT REAL Batam. The journal is specifically dedicated to publishing advanced scholarship in systematic theology and philosophical theology, requiring substantial depth of argumentation, methodological rigour, and critical engagement with primary sources and leading international academic literature. The name Anagoge (???????) is derived from one of the four classical methods of biblical interpretation—literal, tropological, allegorical, and anagogical—employed by Patristic and Scholastic theologians to describe a mode of reading that “raises” the mind towards transcendent truth. The choice of this name reflects the journal’s intellectual vision: to foster theological reflection that moves beyond description towards argumentative synthesis and original conceptual contribution. In this sense, Anagoge represents an intellectual “ascent” from foundational reading towards deeper theological contemplation, critical inquiry, and constructive engagement with questions at the intersection of Christian faith, philosophy, and systematic theology.
