Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has brought significant impact across various domains, including ecclesiastical ministry, theological education, and evangelistic strategy. Within the context of Pentecostalism, the integration of AI raises distinctive theological questions, as this tradition places the work of the Holy Spirit at the center of faith and church practice. This article examines the role of AI in Pentecostal life and mission through theological, ethical, and missiological approaches. The study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical method with two main components: a literature review of theological, digital ethics, and contemporary missiological sources, and a critical analysis of two case studies the BlessU-2 blessing robot developed by the Evangelical Church in Germany and the use of chatbots in Christian campuses and modern churches. The analysis demonstrates that AI can function as an instrument that extends the reach of mission in accordance with the mandate of Acts 1:8, yet it lacks a pneumatic dimension and therefore cannot replace the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding, transforming, and equipping the faithful. This article argues that Pentecostal pneumatology provides a distinctive evaluative framework for assessing the limits and potential of AI in ministry, namely the principle that the role of AI is instrumental rather than substitutive of the Holy Spirit's work. Strategic recommendations are proposed for churches and theological institutions to develop digital literacy grounded in theological accountability and Christian ethics.
