Peningkatan Pengetahuan tentang Dampak Negatif Penggunaan Gadget yang Berlebihan bagi Siswa SMP Negeri Desa Padang Alang Alor Selatan

Excessive use of gadgets remains a serious challenge for students in the digital age, including for junior high school students in Padang Alang Alor Selatan Village. The impacts include impaired concentration in learning, discipline, motivation to achieve, as well as physical and mental health issues. This study aims to examine the impact of smartphone use on students' learning processes while designing and implementing an educational awareness program to promote mindful gadget use. The activities were conducted using an educational participatory approach based on awareness-raising. The materials covered include an introduction to social media, the short-term and long-term positive and negative impacts of media, and the importance of social environment involvement in shaping children's digital behavior. The evaluation showed an increase in students' knowledge about the positive and negative impacts of smartphone use, with an average score of 85/100 based on survey results, as well as changes in the effectiveness of the time management workshop intervention, which resulted in improved monitoring and guidance capabilities of parents and teachers. These results highlight the importance of early educational interventions to foster digital literacy and personal responsibility in technology use, supporting academic achievement and readiness for the future.

Abstrak
Penggunaan gadget yang berlebihan masih menjadi tantangan yang serius bagi siswa di era digital, termasuk bagi siswa SMP Desa Padang Alang Alor Selatan. Dampaknya meliputi gangguan konsentrasi belajar, kedisiplinan, motivasi untuk berprestasi, hingga gangguan kesehatan fisik dan mental. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak penggunaan smartphone terhadap proses belajar siswa sekaligus merancang dan melaksanakan program penyuluhan edukatif untuk meningkatkan kesadaran akan penggunaan gadget yang bijak. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan metode pendekatan edukatif partisipatif berbasis penyuluhan. Materi mencakup pengenalan sosial media, dampak positif dan negatif media jangka pendek dan panjang, serta pentingnya keterlibatan lingkungan sosial dalam membentuk perilaku digital anak. Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan siswa tentang dampak positif negatif penggunaan smartphone dengan skor rata-rata adalah 85/100 berdasarkan hasil survey, serta perubahan efektivitas intervensi workshop manajemen waktu yang diterapkan menghasilkanpeningkatan kemampuan pengawasan dan pendampingan orang tua dan guru. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pentingnya intervensi edukatif sejak dini untuk menumbuhkan literasi digital dan tanggung jawab pribadi dalam penggunaan teknologi, guna mendukung pencapaian akademik dan kesiapan menghadapi masa depan.
